Mateus Nicolau de Almeida 'Curral Teles ⍺ (Alfa)

This wine is very light but wild, packed with red and dark fruit, wild herbs and peppercorn notes. Fresh, juicy, vibrant and edgy.

Field blend of organic native grape varieties grown without synthetic pesticides, fertilizers and herbicides in the vineyard.

Mateus refers to the Curral Teles wines as "human wines”. Alpha is a “Vinho Vermelho” a vinification method used by the Romans and the Cistercian monks. The fruit is foot-trodden, then pressed in a vertical press; there is no skin contact during fermentation, fermented and aged for eight months in concrete vat.

Should be served slightly chilled 12-14ºC.

Grilled lamb chops, or earthy vegetarian dishes such as braised mushrooms with lots of herbs.
