Julia Harding's Best Portuguese Whites

Portugal has long been known for its red wines and ports, but its white wines are on the rise. Renowned Master of Wine Julia Harding has selected six of Portugal's best white wines for her tasting at Financial Times Weekend Festival 2023.

In her own words "These are six of the very best Portuguese white wines I have tasted in the last six months. They demonstrate not just the quality of white wines being produced throughout the country today but also their diversity - wines that can age beautifully as well as offering immense current pleasure".

This case celebrates the diversity, unique character and outstanding quality of white wines from six different wine regions in Portugal.

Julia passed the Master of Wine exams at the first attempt in 2004 and was top student in her year. She has collaborated with Jancis Robinson for nearly 18 years, editing and writing for JancisRobinson.com. In 2009 she won a Special Award in the Louis Roederer International Wine Writers’ Awards, she was Portuguese Wine Writer of the Year in 2012, and in 2023 was voted European Personality of the Year by Piortuguese wine producers. She is co-author, with José Vouillamoz and Jancis, of the multi award-winning Wine Grapes – a complete guide to 1,368 grape varieties including their origins and flavours. She is lead editor for the fifth edition of The Oxford Companion to Wine (2023). Julia lives in London, tastes and travels as widely as she can, and keeps fit and sane thanks to bootcamp fitness in the park.
