Titan of Douro Fragmentado White Blend II
Titan of Douro Fragmentado White Blend II
White | Douro | NV | 13%
A heady nose! Apple blossom and apples, apples, apples. Cooked, fresh, golden-apple skin, crabapple. A creamy nuttiness, but also the rough, bitter tug of walnut skin. Monumental structure, and serrated acidity that send goosebumps down the whole body. Like Savennières, in many ways, but with more allowance for joy. Like an electric guitar in a huge, silent stadium. The energy in this wine is enormous – it slams into your chest, takes your breath away. But there is also mesmerising tenderness. The delicately tannic texture weaves in and out with smoky insistence, pulling at the stones of the wine with pewter threads, salted lemons and fennel. The finish seems to taste like the air on a midwinter night when frost crackles under cold moonlight. Incandescent. (TC) 13.5% Drink 2022 - 2032 18.5/20 https://www.jancisrobinson.com/
