Collection: Herdade da Lisboa

Alentejo

Herdade da Lisboa is located in the heart of Alentejo’s Vidigueira sub-region, between the rivers Selminhos and Freixo, on predominantly schistous soil. The estate’s Paço dos Infantes label was a classic among Alentejo wines in the 1980s and 1990s, forging the reputation of João Portugal Ramos, the acclaimed Alentejo winemaker and consultant, who left to concentrate on his eponymous label.

In 2011, Herdade do Lisboa was acquired by João Cardoso. The estate is enjoying an exciting renaissance following the Cardoso family’s major investment in the vineyards (which total 100ha), a new winery and crack team of winemakers. The range is striking for its fruit purity, harmonious balance and texture, perhaps because Herdade da Lisboa was Alentejo’s first winery to invest in OXOline® barrel storage with rollers. Lees can be stirred without opening the barrel by simply rotating the barrel, limiting oxygen exposure and, it follows, maintaining fruit and freshness. In August 2023, Herdade da Lisboa proudly qualified for certification under Wines of Alentejo’s rigorous Sustainably Produced Certification Scheme.
