Founded by José Roquette in 1985, this modern pioneer is one of Alentejo’s biggest and most progressive players.  All 448.5ha of Esporão’s vineyards in the Reguengos de Monsaraz sub-region are certified organic, as are its other Alentejo estates. From entry-level Monte Velho, Portugal’s top-seller, to the top tier wines and ‘back to the future’ artisanal talha wines, the output is extremely consistent.  Attention to detail is evident despite the scale of the operation.
