Collection: Pormenor

Douro

The usual order is wine then cork, but not in the case of José Silva, Miguel Cardozo and Pedro Coelho. The three friends and co-founders of Pormenor (meaning detail) are all descended from families linked to the cork industry (and coopers). Coelho, the winemaker, has created an impressive range of individual wines.  First launched in 2013, the Douro Superior whites and reds from elevated vineyards impressed with their restraint and expression of terroir.  Whites are textural and shapely with harmonious acidity; reds are fresh and spicy.  New top tier wines impress, as does entry-level newbie Ginga, a fresh, light red, badged under Niepoort’s ‘Nat Cool’ moniker for lighter, minimal intervention glou glou wines.
