Quanta Terra is the creation of two winemakers, Celso Pereira and Jorge Alves.  They met in the nineties at Caves Transmontanas where, after a rolling stone interlude making wine in California, Bordeaux, Australia and elsewhere in Portugal, Pereira settled in 1998.  Caves Transmontanas produces Vértice, one of Portugal’s most prestigious traditional method sparkling wines. Alves heads up winemaking for the Amorim family’s ambitious suite of estates, notably Quinta Nova de Nossa Senhora do Carmo in the Douro.
