Carcavelos is a small wine region east of Lisbon, so close that the growth of that city’s suburbs has left but a handful of vineyards. Breathing life back into the region, Villa Oeiras is the result of an innovative partnership between the Municipality of Oeiras and Ministry of Agriculture.  The goal was to revive the region’s once glorious fortified wine tradition through the Villa Oeiras (formerly Conde de Oeiras) brand. The wines of Carcavelos were world famous in the 18th and 19th century.  Villa Oeiras has not only garnered many, many medals for its wines, it has also inspired others to make Carcavelos.  A true reflection of its success and the value of this unique, rare style of fortified wine.
